Fishing - the nearby Moneycarragh river (1 mile) has sea trout & occasional salmon. Day tickets are available from The Spar, 133 Main Street, Dundrum 028 437 51656 (1 March - 31 October)
Golfing - the Royal County Down Golf course at Newcastle (4 miles) has 2 courses. For details of green fees and availability, call 028 437 23314 or go to www.royalcountydown.org
Walking - the Murlough National Nature Reserve is a short walk from the house and has miles of clearly marked routes among the dunes and sandy beach for which the area is famed.
Wildlife - The inner bay is also a must-see for bird watchers, with merlin, peregrines, greenshanks, pale-bellied Brent geese and oystercatchers among the species observed here.
Eating out - the village has many bars and restaurants specialising in local produce, with favourites including The Mourne Seafood Bar, the Bucks Head Inn, the Quayview Chinese restaurant and the Dundrum Bay Inn. All are within 5-10 minutes walk of the house.
